When to Poison all the Fish in the Lake

The Utah Department of Natural Resources has a serious issue in Navajo Lake; a species of fish has become overpopulated, pushing out other fish species. The state’s solution? Poison all the fish. And that’s exactly what they plan on doing according to The Salt Lake Tribune. The indigenous chub species is not an invasive species by definition, but it has certainly invaded Lake Navajo, pushing out the more popular rainbow trout among other angler favorites — not to mention causing detrimental effects on the lake ecosystem that can no longer sustain the various fish populations. Read more about how and why this total chub annihilation is happening here.
